Records in Microfilm
QUEZON CITY 16 October 2008/ Manila Bulletin The Quezon City civil registry records are now preserved in digital microfilms. Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. received some 316 rolls of Quezon City's marriage, death, and birth certificates from representatives of the Genealogical Society of Utah (GSU) and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which agreed to undertake the microfilming procedure free of charge to the city government. The microfilming took two years for the group to complete the filming of said documents which started from the oldest available record at the Quezon City civil registry office dating 1834 up to the present, excluding court decrees. The group was represented by Pete Adurro, Quezon City stake president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Manolito Baul, the Philippine representative of the GSU. Civil registry Ramon Matabang described the GSU as vital in securing the safety of the city's civil registry records from the elements of wear and tear. (Raul Gonzales)
