Tithing and Giving
I have always loved Hymn 219, ‘Because I Have Been Given Much.’ The phrase ‘I too must give...’ in the first stanza always reminds me of the Law of Tithing. I am reminded that I must always obey it, and that I must do it from the heart. I feel that the Law of Tithing is not meant to restrain me from obtaining my needs. By obeying it, I feel closer to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I become more self-reliant and responsible. I also find it easier to always act with charity. As I continue to obey, I know without a doubt that the Lord will always be with me despite my shortcomings. I developed greater trust in Heavenly Father knowing that he will provide everything I will ever need.

An honest tithe helps build meetinghouses and temples, but more importantly, it builds one’s confidence in the gospel. I know that this is true. n
