The example of Daniel has taught me this gospel principle which is very applicable in our lives: “God blesses those who are true and faithful to Him”. As we face trials in life every day we often find ourselves tempted to give up. But if we will only stay true to our covenants and stay faithful, Heavenly Father will bless our lives tremendously just like what He did to Daniel.

The gospel principle that I learned from a character in the Old Testament is being faithful and having great courage like Esther.

Esther was a woman of great faith.  She was a Jewish woman and the adopted daughter of a Jewish man named Mordecai.  Esther was fearful because, according to the law, if anyone approached the king and was not granted permission to speak, he or she could be killed. But Esther was willing to risk her life for her people, and the king gave her permission to speak. Because of her bravery, the Jews were eventually saved.

Everyone seems to see me as a hero like Superman who came to life. Little do they know that I also inner struggles that I face every day. I know that I am a child of God, however, I feel different compared to Priesthood holders. 

I was ready to give up and run away from my responsibilities in church, at work and even at home. However, while I was fixing my room, I came across the CD -Joseph the Dreamer. As I was watching the movie I was deeply moved when I saw Joseph being sold into slavery by his own brothers. I also recognized that Joseph had a far worse experience than me. Tears began rolling down my cheeks and my sulking became a moment of realization that God really works in mysterious ways, providing us comfort even through a movie.

Though it was a simple movie, I learned that my adversities were nothing compared to Joseph’s. His willpower and discipline to obey the Lord’s commandments have influenced my behavior towards finding solutions to my problems.

During the time I was not attending church, Joseph became my role model in facing life’s challenges.  Joseph had the gift to interpret dreams; I was blessed to live the dream.
