The word “wed” was derived from the ancient Greek word for “pledge.” That’s exactly what a wedding is, no matter what country or culture. To wed is to pledge yourself to another.
Why do I want to be married in the Temple?
Being an only child, I developed a deep love and appreciation for my parents’ example on the importance of temple marriage. I testify that families can be together forever. It has provided me comfort when my father passed away in 2002. My parents chose to marry in the temple and I too will be married in the same place. I want to be married in the temple because I want to be with my family in Heavenly Father’s Kingdom.

I want to be married in the temple because I want me and my future companion to spend eternity together. I want to raise our family in the knowledge that Heavenly Father will bless us if we are obedient and if we keep the covenants we have made. Marrying in the temple proves my love to my future companion and to the Lord.

I want to be married in the temple because I am not satisfied with just the promise of till death do us part. I want to extend that marriage even in the life hereafter. I want my love story to have and they lived happily ever after.

How were you able to cut cost on your temple wedding celebration?
We wanted to start right and so before immersing ourselves with the wedding preparation, Erlwin and I decided to work strictly on a budget as we are taught in the church. Then we used our combined resources such as personal savings, pledges from relatives and friends to come up with the things we needed for the reception. We bargained a lot and bought my beautiful wedding dress for a fairly cheap price. In the end we were able to enjoy this most joyous occasion with our loved ones without going into debt. This experience taught us to be resourceful, creative and prudent in our finances and expenditures.
