Parañaque Philippines Stake held its Jubilee kick off program on March 23, 2010 with more than 500 people attending, including guests from the local government and investigators.

Starting with a video presentation of the stake’s history, the program consisted of choir renditions of Kundiman songs and the jubilee theme song “United.” The Las Piñas Philippines Stake also participated in the event with a choir rendition of Sally Da Ford’s Miracle. Members of the Parañaque and Las Piñas stakes participated in dancing the “Singkil and Pangalay”, which were the highlights of the program.

In his brief remarks, Elder Won Yong Ko, first counselor in the Area Presidency, counseled the youth to be obedient and to follow their leaders. He urged them to join in the dance performance and to practice for the jubilee celebration which will be held at the Araneta Coliseum next year.

Elder Miguel Valdez, Area Seventy, and chairman of the jubilee committee, recalled the words of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal who encouraged the people not to forget to look back at the past in order to reach one’s destiny.

The program was so delightful that even with the intermittent interruption of airplanes roaring overhead while descending at the nearby international airport, everyone appreciated the music and dance performances. Elder Ko said in jest that the airplanes were flying so low to watch the program.
